Ghent, Belgium - 04-17-08
Entry 7 of 9 | show all | print this entry |
Today we visited Ghent - what a beautiful city. Ghent is Belgium's third largest city with a population of about 250,000 and is located at the confluence of the rivers Scheldt and Leie. We went on a very nice walking tour of the city, took many pictures of the city as there were many photo ops.
Lots of school children on field trips throughout the city taking tests of the historical places. We had an opportunity after the walk, to do some shopping, so we ventured into some chocolate shops - yum! This was my favorite city so far.
Back at the ship, the other passengers were off on an optional tour of Brugges. Not us - we are going there after the cruise. So, guess what we did - napped, read, and relaxed. Another awesome afternoon aboard The Amadagio. We heard from so many people when they came back from Brugges, that they were envious of us because we are spending two nights there after the cruise. They said Brugges was just beautiful and that they wished that they had more time to spend there. We can't wait to visit Brugges!
After dinner, I suggested we go up on the sun deck and do the walking path. We have been eating like there is no tomorrow! So we did 10 laps before we hit the hay. The wind was blowing and it was cool so it felt good.

Hello from Hoover to Ghent (reply) Apr 18, 2008 21:18 EST by cheinz57
Ghent sounds wonderful. Now I am really envious. Not only are you touring and seeing historical places, but you are getting to eat Belgium french fries and chocolate...how decadent! So glad you are having fun. I, on the other hand, just finished 4 hours of yard work and am getting ready for a night cap, consisting of a glass of water and two Advils. Keep having fun and bring back los of photo... show all
