We finally made it back to Seattle at 2:30 AM on the 11th. We actually lost a whole day in our flight so it seems like it took us a day to fly back, but in reality it took us two days. So, in all, we spent four nights and three days in airports and airplanes trying to get back home.

My niece picked us up at the airport and before we got more than a mile from the airport we got stopped by a really bad accident that must have happened minutes before. We had to wait an hour before we could finally continue. It was really strange coming home because we saw two really bad accidents on our way home on roads that were virtually empty. It was a weird contrast to India where the roads are manic with cars, trucks, auto-rickshaws, motorcycles cows, dogs, camels, elephants and people moving at different speeds and all different directions with no real rules that were being followed other than honking continally. And yet, we saw very few accidents on the roads compared to what we see here.

The other thing that I struggled with was the constant feeling that everyone was on the wrong side of the road and that my niece was driving from the passenger seat. I experienced something similar when I first arrived in India, but I was expecting it then. I didn't realize how much it would effect me when I got back home. I'm going to be a little cautious about driving at home until I get used to our orientation again.

I finally got to bed at my mom's in Everett around 5:00 AM. I pretty much slept the whole day of the 11th, only waking long enough to eat something with my mom and then falling back to sleep. I have never been so tired in my life.
