We headed back to Udaipur today and it was a long drive, pretty much all day. We saw a lot of accidents along this road and people stuffed into vehicles to overspilling. Truely!
We saw many jeeps with so many people on it that they were hanging off the bumpers and windows. We saw buses that had people standing along the sides using the windows to hold on and I'm not sure what they were standing on. They actually have to pay for their ride the same as the people stuffed inside the buses and on top of the buses. Yes, they also ride on the lugguage racks on the top of buses. They basically hang off anything they can hold onto and they travel long distances. There are also these turcks and trackers stuffed to overflowing filled with peanut grass used to feed camels. I'm hoping to get a picture of these because it is hard to describe how overstuffed these things are. We saw one overturned along the road. I'm surprised we haven't seen more of them overturned because they on either side and on the back they hang over the edge of the vehicle at least as wide as the vehicle itself. Plus it is probably three times as high as the vehicle. You can hardly see the vehicle under all that peanut grass. They use gunny sack material to hold it all in. It is the craziest thing I've ever seen.
We had one close call on the road and I am glad we are done with car driving for a while. They drive like manicas here and it is hard on the stomach. But, we got to Udaipur safely.
