Ome thing we've had to get used to is the lack of power. Rajasthan turns the power off to the cities in the late morning so, you can't use the internet or even see what you are trying to do in your room for lack of light.:-)

Today we went to see Umaid Bhawan Palace which is where the current maharaja's family lives. It is all made of Jodhpur marble which is a warm pinkish yellow. Yet another impressive building. The architecture here is unbelieveable. I'm starting to be able to pick out what elements are Jain, Mughal, and Hindi. I'm still not sure about muslim architecture yet. This is actually a newer building and decorated in an Art Deco design.
He buildt their palace to give jobs to the locals during a time of long drought.

Then we went to see the Jaswant Thada Memorial. This is another beautiful building made of white marble. This memorial has small memorials for all the dead maharajas of Jodhpur.

Finally, we went to the fort. This fort was one of the best places we've seen so far. It had an audio tour so you can walk through on your own and learn about everything in the fort. That made it very enjoyable.

Once we finished with the fort we were off to Jaisalmer.

On the road to Jaisalmer we saw peacocks and some kind of deer that looks like a cross between a deer and a moose. They just call them deer here. We also saw two road kill camels, and two dead dogs. The first time we've seen any raod kill.

We are staying in th Residency Center Point Guest House R400, pretty cheap.
