We woke up around 6:00 AM this morning. It was humid and a little too hot so we didn't sleep well. We ate a couple of banana breed slices that we bought from a bicycle vendor the night before. The we walked down to a restaurant called Herbal Tribe and had tea and coffee so Dave could check out their menu. He wanted to eat there because he liked the atmosphere. It had sand for floors and tables scattered around with palm leaves for a roof. It reminded me of some of the places in Varkala in the southern tip of India. Later, we stopped by a place that specializes in snorkeling tours and made reservations for an all day trip tomorrow. They take you to three of the most popular snorkeling locations, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley, and Corral Gardens. You are supposed to see Nurse Sharks and Sting Rays in Shark Ray Alley. They also take you to San Pedro on the island of Ambergris, most popular island in Belize, for 1 1/2 hours lunch stop. Enough time to do a little browsing as well. Ambergris is the island that Madonna made famous for her song La Isla Bonita, which is the nickname for Ambergris. Then we took a walk to the north end of the island where there is a small nature reserve. You can actually walk through the airport, that's how small it is, and continue on for about another mile. We walked all the way to the northern tip of the island where I finally saw my first iguana. It was about two feet long. That was exciting. We also saw a number of small lizards and some lizard that were about 10 inches long. By the time we walked back to town, I discovered that I had gotten a sun burn on my shoulders and chest. It didn't take long! I had forgotten to put sunscreen on that part of my body. It had gotten pretty hot by that time and we were both dripping with sweat. We stopped for a small snack of rice and beans at the Rainbow Bar and Grill. It's right on the water so you get a nice breeze while you eat. We bought some fresh fruit from a street vendor and headed to the split for a swim after stopping to change into swim suits and slop on sunscreen. The water was really warm. Dave used his watch to measure that temperature and is was 82 degrees. This area is protected by the reef so the water is calm and lots of white sand. A great place  for a swim.
