Today we went to the Tohono O'Odham Native American Rodeo. I was very impressed with how polite and friendly everyone was, including all the kids. Really nice pleasant people. The rodeo was fun to watch and we had the best Chile Indian Taco made with Indian Fry Bread. Well, worth the trip. Before we went to the rodeo we were going to stop at the little town of Sells on the Indian Reservation, but we got there just as a parade was ending. It looked like it could have been a good parade to see, but the traffic was so bad that we never made it to the post office. Cline and Kirsten said they thought they would go to the parade next year.

After the rodeo went headed up to the Kitt Peak National Observatory. They had so many telescopes up there I couldn't believe it. We didn't have a lot of time to look around since we got there kind of late, but we went to the biggest telescope  with a lens four meters wide, 13 ft? It was impressively massive. It weighed 30,000 pounds. I can't imagine how they got it all the way up that peak (6972 ft). They also have a solar telescope there and you'll see it in the pictures. It's the one that has a flat sloped section.

I haven't mentioned the weather here before. The first day when we went to the Gem show it was so cold, I had to borrow a sweater from Kirsten because my fleece coat and rain shell was not enough to keep me warm. I even had gloves and a headband and I was still cold. The day we went bouldering and hiking it got warmer and today was even warmer so, maybe by the time we leave it will be warm enough to be in shorts. I think the high we saw in the truck was 63 degrees. I'm hoping for 70 tomorrow.
