I had to share my first morning in Tucson with you all. I woke up to sounds I didn't know. "What birds are making those calls?" I ask myself. I was surprised to realize I only recognized two bird calls among all the multitudes of songs and calls I was hearing. I heard the mourning dove and the house sparrow, but were all those other birds? This was a great preview to the wonderful birding experiences ahead! I opened my eyes with a big smile on my face.

I was a little excited in anticipation once Dave and I were finally ready to go find the Sweet's RV. We were lucky enough to get to stay in one of the apartments they have here thanks to a friend of the Sweets. I didn't get much further than the front door before I saw a bird I didn't know. "What's that bird?!" I stepped a little further and saw another bird I didn't know. I swing around, "What's that bird?" Then a humming bird I don't know. I whorl around as it zips by, "What's that hummer?" And another bird, and another bird. My body is getting pulled in numerous directions as all these birds flit and zip past me. I twist this way and that trying to see them better view. Which bird should I concentrate on? I don't have my book. How am I going to identify these birds? WHERE'S TC WHEN I NEED HER! She knows these birds. I was immobilized! Well, Cline and Kirsten might not be seeing me for a while. I can't leave these birds unidentified! I finally decided my best option was to find Cline and Kirsten because they might have a book. So, I started walking again. :-)

I've seen lots of pictures of the RV park that Kirsten has shared with me, but they just don't do this park justice. There are so many varieties of cactus here. They are so unusual, to me anyway, I could spend a whole day right here in the RV park just studying the plants and birds. Anyway, needless to stay, my first morning in Tucson was very exciting.
