Ghostly Views in LA
Entry 4 of 29 | show all | print this entry |
We finally made it to LA without any complications and now we have to wait for three more hours before our flight to Tucson. As I sat at the gate waiting to board, I was struck with the most surreal experience. There were about four or five people standing in the main thoroughfare, spaced about three feet apart, each with their backs turned from their neighbor, talking on different dell phone devices. Some had cell phones held at their ear, their were a couple with Bluetooth devices in their ears so their hands were free to gesticulate wildly. They were all talking loud enough that I could hear each of their conversations. they were all talking either with their heads pointed down at the floor or up at the ceiling. One man was trying really hard not to move a muscle, while others were pacing and gesticulating with their hands. In the mean time, all these people were passing by, going both directions, also talking on cell phones. Yet no one was talking to someone that existed there, in that space. All the conversations were long distance. No one looked at anyone else. No one was connected, they were all separate, disengaged from their surroundings. It gave me the strangest feeling, like I was a ghost in another dimension, watching what was happening in that other dimension.
