San Diego Zoo
Today we got up pretty early and spent the day the the San Diego Zoo. This is definitely the best zoo I have ever been to! The morning was beautiful, and all of the animals were out. Highlights were the polar bears (we got an awesome close-up view), the chimps (the babies were out playing in the morning), and the giraffes.
Giraffe
We were just watching them, and a female giraffe walked over and started peeing. So the male giraffe comes up behind her and starts drinking her pee. The best part is when he looked up with his lips curled and this expression of utter desire, just savoring the apparent intoxicating quality of her pee. Hilarious! I wish we had gotten a video of the event. We saw tons of great animals, but as the day wore on the crowds got larger and the animals started sleeping and hiding as the day got hotter so we decided to leave. We wandered around Balboa Park for a little while, but we were pretty tired of walking so we called it a day and went back to the hotel. That night we went out to dinner with some of Rick's work friends. We decided to go to Old Town since it was close by. All of Old Town was incredibly busy, and we ended up eating at a mexican food place. I go all the way to California, and I end up having mexican food (it's not exactly hard to come by in Texas.)
