Red Frog Beach
Red Frog Beach
Today Rick and I decided to spend the day at red frog beach.  The beach is named after the small, red poison arrow frogs found on Isla Bastimentos.  Since the beach was quite a distance from La Loma, Henry took us by boat to a little trail that led to the beach on the other side of the island.  When we arrived, the beach was empty except for a stray dog who decided to befriend us; we named her Sandy.  Sandy the dog

With Sandy by our side we walked the beach and staked out our spot.  The beach pretty much stayed empty for most of the day; a few people came and went, but for the most part we had a private beach for the majority of the day.  We borrowed a boogie board from Henry and a big thunderstorm to the west was sending some great waves our way for a little surfing.  When we weren't in the water, Rick and Our masterpiece

I made sand sculptures and I wandered around taking pictures.  Sandy stayed next to our stuff for most of the morning, but eventually wandered off to see if other people offered better handouts.  By the afternoon we were tired from boogie boarding, and we just sat in the sand and watched the ghost crabs scurry about the deserted beach.  Time flew by, and soon we had to hike back so Henry could pick us up and take us back to La Loma.
