So why Panama?  Everyone who we have told about our vacation has asked this question, so here is the background story.  It all started when I asked Rick where he would like to go on vacation.  He said "I don't care, you choose."  Be careful when you tell me something like that; your butt will end up off the beaten path, like Panama.  I wanted to do a beach vacation, so I started researching.  Hawaii was too far away and expensive.  It would be hurricane season in the Carribean when we wanted to take our trip.  I started looking at Costa Rica, but people were saying that Panama is what Coats Rica was like 20 years ago: cheap, not touristy, and not too developed.  Score.  I was looking up places to stay on Tripadvisor and ran across the La Loma Jungle Lodge, and I fell in love with it immediately.  Now I just had to sell the idea to Rick ("why do you want to vacation in a third world county?")  Eventually I got my way, though Rick was pretty wary about the whole Panama thing until we got to the Jungle Lodge.  I'm glad we went out on a limb, though; it turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences we've had.
