Dead bear #3
As we checked into our hotel last night, we were greeted with another dead stuffed bear in the lobby (and a dead stuffed weasel and pine martin for good measure.) Since this was dead stuffed bear #3, I took this as a sign that I should start photo-documenting our dead stuffed bear sightings. Sure enough, when we went to the airport to pick up our rental car, we saw dead stuffed bear #4 and #5. Oh, and the bowling alley terminal we arrived at was not representative of the rest of the airport; the other terminal is nicely remodeled with granite, glass, and better stuffed bears.

Before leaving for Denali we went to the grocery store to pick up some food and snacks before we got too far into the interior. Long story short, we got lost in Anchorage looking for a Walmart, but in the process I saw one of the weirdest and creepiest house of all time. We drove by what was otherwise a normal looking house, but on closer inspection the roof was covered in moose heads. We're talking real moose heads in varying stages of decay. Some heads had been reduced to bones, some still had scraps of flesh clinging to them; one was still very moose-like with a vaguely confused expression wondering how his decapitated head ended up on someone's roof. I unfortunately was not able to get a picture, but hopefully when we get back into Anchorage I can grab one of the roof-top moose morgue.
