Although we arrived in later than expected (thanks to British Airways) the trip into the city from the airport was memorable indeed! Our lady cab driver swept us into town in a black Mercedes hitting speeds of 140 kmh!! Amazing driving on open freeways that didn't allow for much sightseeing along the way.

Once settled, we head to the quaint Le Chat Noir for a magnificent meal of pasta, homemade bread and a chocolate mousse to die for. Despite light rain, we make a way around the city centre exploring little alley ways along the cobblestones roads of central Brussels.

The array of food and chocolate throughout Brussels is amazing. Quality food everywhere making the air full of wonderful aromas. We, of course, try some of the local fare and slowly demolish some amazing chocolates. Orange for me and hazelnut for Michelle. The chocolate is so good that you must savior each bite; certainly a step up from Cadburys!

The waffle restaurant is our next destination as we get some hot chocolate and waffles and ice cream covered in icing sugar. The waffle is so light and tasty that maple syrup would ruin the tasty and texture.

We spent most of Day 2 morning on a tour of the city. Great highlights include the Royal Palace, the Autorium (Worlds Trade Fair monument), numerous castles and churches and the Manneken Pis (see photos). An ok tour though we had to hear it in French, English and Italian.

A great day for walking around the 17th century shopping district and trying on clothes and eating food and enjoying the city that is home to the famous comic book hero, Tin Tin. An interesting mix of languages and cultures makes Belgium an intriguing place to visit and one we are glad to visited.
