Entry 7 of 7 | show all | print this entry

So I didn't write anything for the last two entries, partly because it was so long ago that I kinda have forgotten what I did, and partly because in Mui Ne there was a lot of movie and football watching and laying around the pool.  Saigon was really cool, but I mostly just drank and did a lot of walking around the city going to museums and the like.  The Cu Chi tunnels were really cool though and on my way out of Vietnam I took a boat trip up the Mekong through the Mekong Delta visiting fishing villages and on into Cambodia.

So thats where this entry starts off.  I got into Phnom Penh and it seemed like a whole different place than Vietnam.  I stayed in a little hostel by the lake, which was pretty cool.  I spent my first day going to the Killing Fields, which was an amazing experience.  It was so amazingly sad and surreal.  Seeing a huge shrine of skulls that I wouldn't want to even guess the number of starts you off.  Then reading of the unfathomable way people were brought there and slaughtered, and seeing the mass graves of men, women and children.takes you on a journey that literally makes your heart ache.  After leaving I had so many emotions going through my body and then starting seeing the smiling faces of the Cambodian people.  The people here and also in Laos amazed me with their happiness and warmth.  So I stayed a few days here and had a good time afterwards going to bars, meeting some cool people before moving on the Siem Reap.
