Photos for the most part. Two nights on a campsite - our first showers for over a week! Friendly neighbours from Netherlands. Portuguese beer is by far the cheapest in the local shop. Pretty little town. Very steep hillside up to the chateau, but great walk around there in the woods. Chateau ok but reckon it might have been worth buying the guidebook for 3.50 but we haven't seen inside it so we don't know for sure. High ropes adventure available - really tempted as it looked like huge amounts of fun. If only my ribs weren't still sore! Walked up to the top and took the chairlift down for spectacular views and Laura opened her eyes for the photos. Ice cream and sweet pastry excellent.

Helen Cranston on

Hi there, Kevin and I went to Vianden before we were married in the early 80's! We went away exploring each weekend to various pretty North European towns when we were living in Germany. It doesn't seem to have changed much and was lovely when we went. The only bad experience was ordering something strange on the menu in a little restaurant only to discover I was eating brains on toast - ukk! Hope you don't have the same problem..... good to see you having a great time. xx
