The return to England in May 2010 was mandated by the insurance requirement to have a valid MOT, wherever we were in Europe. So we tootled back and were pleased to be greeted by good weather.  After five months on the road, we really enjoyed catching up with friends including a local Birmingham gathering titled Swanfest: a garden, a bbq, a fire and a few tents. There was the slightly larger event advertised as Woodfest
which is an acoustic/folky sort of music in a very green festival plus a little festival where we volunteered in the tea tent, Galhampton's Party in the Park

Family visits were fabulous, of course. Dad's BBQ was brilliant and the weather threatened but was eventually most accommodating. Voluntarily, we carried on with working for our keep at some homes and felled trees, cut hedges, painted, plastered and other odd jobs.  We enjoyed staying with Frances and Roger in Somerset for a week or so, helping decorate their new little house in Cary, and whilst in Norfolk with Alex's Mum Sheila, we visited a replica Iron Age village. Enthusiasts had translated what is known about the Eceni [sic] tribe and have been developing the village on an old landfill site for a number of years. A fascinating and educating trip Laura spent a really fun and sunny few days with her mum in Torquay (check out the size of the cream teas they discovered!).
Brian had lots of new bits and TLC. Pads & discs, wheel bearings, slave cylinder, expansion chamber and service items. Additionally, the leisure electrics were finally sorted out - it had come as a bit of a shock that the leisure electrics still worked without the leisure battery... something was very wrong! So Brian now has a lovely new switched alternator feed complimented by bus bars and fuseboards; oh check out the photo!
And Brian passed the MOT first time in May!  Two months later we flummoxed the MOT man when we returned at the end of July to get a second MOT to extend the time we could, if we want to, stay abroad. So on 31st July we set sail for France again to stay with friends and volunteer there before wandering away for a warmer winter somewhere.
We'd also like to say a massive thank you to all our friends and family who invited us into your homes to stay whilst we were in England. We very much appreciate your hospitality!
