On business.
Vivanta by Taj--great location, amazingly hospitable staff

Dining options:
Graze at the Vivanta MG Road
I am not always impressed by restaurants in hotels, but I am so glad I got lazy and didn't want to venture from the hotel and ended up here.
Has a beautiful outdoor setting under a canopy of greenery and jasmine or should you wish, sit inside in the european inspired restaurant.
pleasantly surprising 3 or 5 course wine pairing menu. actually the options were all interesting and uniquely prepared. you can see the menu on the hotel's website.
i opted for the pumpkin soup and I loved the pumpkin risotto. my colleagues were equally satisfied with their steak and seafood options.
try Indian wine -- Sula's has a decent red, but a delicious sparkling wine (yes, im serious, it is very good, I had to ask the guy to bring the bottle just so I could see that it was actually an Indian bubbly:))

Rim Naam at the Oberoi
DELICIOUS! famous thai place in Bangalore. it definitely lived up to its hype.
Make reservations
taken from the Oberoi website: "This award winning restaurant offers the best of Thai cuisine. A beautiful alfresco restaurant nestled amongst raintrees, bamboo groves and tropical gardens, Rim Naam, rests upon a lily pond with a sweeping view of the greens. By day it is fresh, breezy and a washed with subtle sunlight and a spectacular view of the manicured gardens. At night it is romantic, quaint and dotted with flickering candles and infused with the subtle aromas from the frangipani shrubs."Fabulous setting and even better food. Lovely staff.

Hard Rock Cafe
Yes, I am serious. Our team in India particularly like this establishment and wanted to go here for lunch one day. The menu, while typically American, had some nice Indian style American dishes (i.e. paneer kati rolls that I just couldnt resist ordering:)). The atmosphere, while simliar in concept to other HRCs, was one of the better ones I have seen.

Ebony at Ivory Tower Hotel
Cool setting overlooking Bangalore. Not too polluted, so can actually see out over the city and see how green the former hillstation used to be. Served us so many delicious starters before we even ordered, I wasn't hungry for the actual lunch. http://www.ebonywithaview.com/ebony_main.html

So, now it looks like all I did in Bangalore was eat. Outside of business meetings, I guess that would be true. I have been here before, so didn't feel like I missed anything. It is an amazing city that continues to grow and attract expats from around the world.
