We made a plan to go at least to Tao, NM today.  The visitor center had a lot of good info and art.  We picked-up information for the historic plaza, and checked the internet for a good place to stay.  We decided to stay near Santa Fe instead.

The plaza was nice, it reminded us of the plaza in Sonoma, CA.  Lots of trading companies.  The best shop was "Made in New Mexico."
