Thanks heaps to all you who have written to me over the past 2 months, its great hearing from you and knowing you havent forgotten me. And to you who haven't written to me, i will kill you.
So i planned on writing this first diary entry about 5 weeks ago, but as it always seems to happen, well nothing happens. Over the past 8 weeks so many things have happened, iv met so many cool peoiple and have been to just as many cool places. However, I really cant be bothered writng about them all and im sure no one can be bothered reading about them all. plus i cant remember what i did last week let alone last month. But ill try and give a breif and entertaining recap.
Jimbo and I arrive at Bangkok airport only to run into a girl I did one subject with at uni. She offers us a bed in her parents penthouse apartment, we couldnt refuse. So for the next few days we really did nothing except swim and jump off the diving board all day and go out at night. It was such a culturually uplifting experience, that we decided to shoot our own fashion shows walking down the cat walk. we really might be gay.
A few days after arriving it was time to head south to the islands. Koh Pha Ngan here we come! we had big plans to let off a bit of steam upon arriving. But our failure to slip, slop, slap on the boat ride over left us very red and sore and in need of sleep and little movement. So for the first couple of days we did little else besides feel sorry for ourselves and keep out of the sun, but once we got over that it was on. We met some cool people, namely james and the two south africans, fish and squash.
we didnt really get up to much except go to some partys and lay on our arses for most of the days.
ONe night 'know it all pommy' insisted we dont wear shoes to the black moon party cos they would get lost. lets just say we didnt take note of his advice and we walked home in one piece at 7am with enough enery to accuse some dude from liverpool that he was a liar when he said he couldnt swim when he just told us he lived in a pool
Next we headed for Koh PHi Phi. The island is clearly still suffering the effects from the tsunami (see the photots), but the general vibe from the people was very positive. Jimbo's and mine guide for Cliff jumping and snorkling lost his wife in the tsunami, but has since re-married and seemed pretty upbeat. speaking of which, the cliff jumping was awesome (check the video). I jumped from 20 meters. it might not sound that high, but its a freking long way down and takes about 3 or 4 seconds to hit the water. a lot of fun. We also did some snorking while on the island and each time we saw sharks. cool to see. we also went to "the beach" of the leonardo di caprio fame, not as nice as in the movie, but still pretty speccy. one funny story was when i got chased from the a resort pool at about 5am. the guys chasing me where yelling at me asking what room i was staying in so they could charge me if i wasnt staying there (they knew i wasn't staying there), and my reply as i sprinted off in my jocks was, "ya mum's, hahahahahaha"
RAilay beach!, holiday beach to the rich was next on the intenary, An amazing beach, of which i didnt take any photos, but apart from that there wasnt really anything going on except for some serious games of connect 4 at the bars at night. Jimbo found his calling, im pretty sure he smashed most opponents. However for me at this time i was suffering from headaches for about a week straight so i was pretty useless. i forgot to mention that by now we had met up with a friend of mine from when i studied in Copenhagen and her friend. Bec and Heta Job, thanks for a good time girls, be seeing you soon.
Jimbo had to leave in only a few days by this time so it was back to bangkok. The trip back jimbo and i sat seperately because we tried to bags 2 seats for ourselves, it back fired as we both had people shacking up next to us before we could move next to each other. I thought it was no big deal as a dude about my age sat next to me. he seemed pretty cool, that was until he started snuggling up to and me and sleeping all over me. When i would move to wake him up, he would look at me and see that he was laying all over me and the whole two seats and just go back to sleep
A day later we went west to Kanchanaburi. I had been their 4 years previous and really loved it. Sadly we only had one night there as jimbo had to be back in bangers to get his flight. It is so relaxing and cool. sitting by the River Kwai in hammochs and doing sweet F.A. was nice and listening to Jimbo give pommy caint shit all day was priceless. Jimbo what was the story about POmmy Caint wanting his one baht change or something redicilous like that, but at the same time it was the first time he ever had enough money for his own meal. jimbo loved that one. all in all, good fun though.
after jimbo left i planned on heading back there. Its been 4 weeks since and i have gotten anywhere near there. But i have been busy, well sort of.
So Jimbo, my main man for the past 4 weeks was leaving me. The team was being broken up, and i must say i was a little upset. I miss you buddy, wish you were back here, smashing nevil waters and Singha's with me and lets not forget your favourtie LEo's. Remember that chick who made a public fool of me cos i asked for a Beer Loa
Its funny but since you left i dont think iv said a single por favor. come back buddy and we can por favor and nelvil it up all day long.
Lets not forget the shenanigans Jimbo got up to in bangers like jumping in the back of tuk tuks just to look at the drivers dirty pitures and then recite the whole ping pong show word for word. hows it go.....actually ill keep this PG rated. And lets not forget you recital of john farnahms take the pressure down in your underware, got that bad boy on video. sorry i had to smash you in nelvil dive though, i know you were gutted.
we didnt see a lot of tourist attractions but we did see wat pho. its the laying buddah, check the pic. but tourist attracions are generally almost always overratted anyways.
however since Jimbo left iv been foreced to do some different things and have seen a lot of the real bangkok. and iv loved it. stayed in areas with people i have met around the place, where there are no white people at all. have really enjoyed the past month without actually doing anything at all.
I met a guy who asked me to come along to some english camps for some 'well heeled' thai kids
have picked up a lot of thai and want to keep learing but have to leave tonight as my visa is about to expire. but ill be back in 4-8 weeks i reckon. so now its onto peaceful, laidback and underdevloped Laos. Im real excited to get there.
Finally, I miss you all. thinking of everyone, hope things are well, let me know.
so check out the photos and ill send another diary entry once i leave Laos.
