Left Deliverance-like marina at 6:40 this morning heading to St Simon's Island, Georgia. Trip was pretty uneventful as far as the ICW sights. Skies were overcast and bleak. It looked a lot like the Texas landscape (marshes, grass, no trees, wide open spaces). We crossed a couple of big bays, one pretty rough due to the Atlantic being stirred up, and all was well. We continue seeing lots of boats heading back up north and very few heading our direction. We did another 63 miles today.
When we got to St. Simon's we buttoned down the boat, grabbed the free bicycles offered at the Marina and headed into the downtown area of St. Simons. We were a sight to behold as we peddled our hearts out on the bike trail. Once downtown, we visited the St. Simon's lighthouse, the beach and the tourist traps. Lots of beautiful homes and a very laid back town. As we were riding down the beach I asked a couple if they would mind taking a picture of the three of us. Delighted, they said, "Oh, that would be great!". They then proceeded to pose thinking I wanted a picture with them....then Gene and Maggie came up and they "got" it. The picture is on the blog tonight.
Tomorrow Landon and Cheyna will join us in Fernandino Beach and travel with us until Sunday. More tomorrow... More thumbnails ...
