Rachel and I camped for 2 nights in Sedona. Our couch surfing hosts, Conner and Jenny, directed us to a free camping area with a beautiful 360 degree view of the surrounding terrain. During the day, we hiked some trails that led us through gorgeous red canyons. The difference between hiking in the dessert and hiking through the woods is that there is almost always a beautiful view when you are not surrounded by tall trees. At night, Rachel and I made campfires and prepared delicious meals. We even cooked popcorn for the first time on our trip which reminded me of how I would always enjoy popcorn with my parents on most evenings during the past 6 months of living at home. The nights got cold, dipping below freezing on occasion. Rachel wears several layers as well as uses two sleeping bags and a thick blanket to stay warm! We do stay plenty warm at night now, it just took awhile to figure out the best way to do it.
