But first, the Emirates flight was also a world class experience. The 8 and a half hour flight literally flew by. Although I was sitting in row 47, I thankfully had a window seat and sat next to a nice old man from Hillcrest who is visiting his son for a boy's weekend to watch the Grand Prix on Sunday. But that's besides the point. I did have a screaming child in front of us which tested everyone around. But that's also besides the point.
The air hostesses were amazing, the food was absolutely delicious and we ate with metal utensils. But the best part was the inflight entertainment. You can connect to a camera at the front and bottom of the plane and watch the take off and landing
Anyway we landed in Dubai whilst it was dark so couldn't see much. But what I did notice is this place is very flat - and sandy. Probably coz it's a desert! I'm looking forward to taking off in daylight so I can see more.
Not a minute has gone by where I have not been smiling and filled with awe. This airport has millions of people wandering around (some very good looking men too - they look American - or that may just be wishful thinking). It's now 07:15 in Dubai and 05:15 in Durban and the Heineken Beer Lounge is open and full. The food courts have everything from champagne and caviar to McDonalds. I bought bottled water, 500ml for $5 - I shall sip it slowly! Oh and these middle eastern men in their white dresses and head dresses... they all look like Yassar Arrafat!
Almost time to board now for the 16 and a half hour flight to LA. What's going to be a real mind f@ck, is that after 16 and a half hours of traveling, I land at 2:15 pm, on this same day.
Will be in touch again when I can get a sim and finally start posting properly.
