It's been crazy around here the past few days. Lesley has been going into Bangui with Jean Bosco to get supplies and other things we need to make it down to Bayanga. On Saturday the car she was riding in was hit by a drunken police officer that caused the car she was in to hit 2 people on a motorcycle. She is fine but the 2 guys on the motorcycle had to go to the hospital. Obviously it put a cramp in their activities for the day. Lesley got to go down into the local busmeat market and there was apparently no shortage.

Saturday we met 2 South African tourists that will be staying at the Doli Lodge in Bayanga for 10 Days. They left on Sunday but we will meet up with them again when we get there. The man is a Vet who has written a book on elephants and they like to do adventure traveling all over Africa. I'm looking forward to seeing how their experiences have been thus far.

Today we went to the U.S. Embassy to let them know that we are here, where we are going, and how long we will be here. Lesley was able to see a couple of people that she knew from being here before. Jean Bosco has a friend at the commissar's office and has been helping greatly get all the immigration paperwork that we need to have done so we can stay in the country. To get this done we needed to get passport photos done and this is when all chaos descended upon us. I took photos of Lesley and I with my camera (1 of 2), which Evan promptly ripped down and destroyed. So now I have 1 camera. Ok so then I went to print the photos with the 4x6 photo printer that I brought. The printer is fine however it appears that I neglected to bring the paper and ribbon for it! Ok so I'll just use the travel printer that Lesley brought to print her notes and writings. Nope, it didn't survive the trip, 2 cracks in the casing and every error light on. Ok so I'll take the SD card to the local photolab and have the prints made there. Nope, their machine won't read my card. So then we have new pictures taken and printed out there, which is what I should have done in the first place since the total cost there was $8.00 vs $600 camera that is now unusable.

There are a lot of interesting Lizards here as you can see from the photos. Lesley says that they will be all over our house in Bayanga, which I'm perfectly fine with since they eat bugs, which will also be all over our house in Bayanga.

We are looking forward to leaving here and getting on with our trip. We have already made arrangements for a house in Bayanga. Jean Bosco will rent us his house there and it has 3 rooms, a concrete floor, and it's own well so it looks like it will be pretty nice. Another good bit of news is that the road to Bayanga has apparently been improved and it now only takes 9 hours to get there instead of 13-14, let me tell you this is a HUGE relief and some good news badly needed today!
