Well we are in Washington D.C. which is our final U.S. destination before departing to Paris and then Bangui, Central African Republic.

We have been staying at the home of Heather Eves and Richard Ruggiero. They are one of the great power couples of conservation. Heather is the Director of the Bushmeat Crisis Task Force (BCTF) which is of course right up Lesley's alley. Richard works for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife service and has been all over Africa and Central Africa in particular many many times. Not only has staying with them been a tremendous benefit to our wallet, but it has also been a wonderful experience for us all. Heather and Richard have actually been out there working to make a positive change in the world. It's rather inspiring to see that you can make a difference and confidence boosting knowing that other people have gone before in a similar way to what we are now attempting to do.

Richard and Heather have 2 children, Ryan (4) and Casey (6), which has been great for Evan and Aanae to have some playmates. Aanae even got to take her first sled ride when it snowed on Thursday. She loves snow very much and I'm glad she got a chance to enjoy it one last time because she won't be seeing anymore for a long long long time (which is perfectly fine by me).

Lesley has been working hard doing research at WWF (World Wildlife Fund), BCTF (Bushmeat Crisis Task Force), and interviewing various officials that work in the area of her research. It's been very worthwhile for her to be doing this. There is no other way that she would have been able to get this information without actually being here and it looks like it will be invaluable to the overall outcome of her project.
