30.05.09: Beautiful day, waking up in Franz Josef..They say that the blue ice is at its best the day after a rain pour...Lucky hikers today!
We drove on the west coast, which looked a bit like the great ocean road. Sean is making me say "apostles" again! We finally arrive at pancake rocks. They look a bit like Bryce Canyon emerging from the sea. Million of years ago, they were under water. The pancake rock effect is created by immense pressure on alternating hard and soft layers of marine creatures and plant sediments...so the lab coats think.. Us at Pancake Rocks
Us at Pancake Rocks

It is a theory, as they cannot validate it 100%. It is actually quite a warm day for a change. We were given a challenge by Christine and Jerome before leaving. Find their names hidden besides the rocks. If we succeed in this mission, we would win a meal in Dijon! We searched and searched and searched some more. We are sad to say that we miserably failed the mission. We decided to head towards the mountains..again..this time to Arthur's Pass and decide to skip the other attraction the place offers;blowholes at high tides. We had a fare share of those in Australia, so we move on. We plan our walks for the following day after meeting some people (not too hard, I begged, my legs are still sore from the walk on the ice)
