24.05.09:  We drove to Milford Sound in the morning and tried to make it to the 11am boat cruise. The road required to have snow chains only a few days ago, but when we arrived it was just fine.!We left the car (dubbed E.T. by now) and ran to the counter and they just held the boat for us a couple of minutes while we were paying!!!  The fjords look amazing. We were lucky because we had no rain and usually, this place gets a lot of water during the year.  We started the cruise by looking at Mt Mitre, the mountain that is probably the most photographed in Milford Sound. Haven't done one of those in a while

All around the mountains, you could see loads of waterfalls, big and small from the snow melting and the rain. They all form the lake that we were now cruising on.  As the water was calm, the captain brought us to the Tasman sea for a little while. On the way back, the wind was really strong when you stayed on the deck. We saw a couple of fur seals resting on some rocks. We were shown the place where there are a few graves from whalers and sealers back in the 1800s. Sunset on Milford Sound

In the afternoon, we drove in the area, and went to the Chiasm waterfalls, which were beautiful. The erosion built small pebbles in the rocks and there were also huge trunks in the middle of it. In the evening, we just chilled out with a bottle of wine with my new book (it takes place in Dublin, cool! It is the second one in a row that I read that takes place in Dublin and the weather always seems to be nice and sunny. Sean reckons that is because they are girly books)
