21.04.09: After the Rastafarians from Belize, here are the hippies from Nimbin! The four of us had to come here! A small town in the mountains from the Rainbow region, Nimbin is like nowhere else in Australia. On the single street of the town, psychedelic shops blossom. You can see loads of people smoking pot and can be offered very freely. Basically, everybody knows but everybody covers their eyes for this tiny town. They sell organics vegs and fruits, handicrafts of all sorts. You can see families and old people dressed in long dresses and have long beards and children walking barefoot.  Marine and Annso in wonderland

A lot were living on the camping we were staying at. One had a bus converted into a home with as much crap outside as inside. We checked the broken VW combi van museums. It is a place made by some local artists with everything they could find on the planet, from old vans to TVs, all linked with papier maché decorations. Totally crazy! We visited the Hemp museum, and a candle making factory. That was great.  The combi cemetery

The guy showed us the process. I would have loved to stay longer and try to make one myself!! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and craziness of this bubble. In two weeks, they have a huge festival (camping spots are already all booked out). The festival is called Mardi Grass, parading for legalisation of pot! They guy from the camping nicely lent us an awning to cover ourselves from the evening rain!
