I asked for the cab to be at Villa Bruni at nearly 6.45 am so that I could take the 7.30 am train to Florence. I only had two nights in Florence which included a must go to Regello - the branded shopping outlet because I had a shopping list from people back home, hence the reason for Doris. You see, Doris is this wonderfully cheap bag I bought from Jusco, only RM60( like US20) . 5 rollers and its three tiered so from a sports bag , it becomes a two feet roller bag and if I need additional space, another tier gives me an additional one feet. So who cares if it squeaks...
As we drive down from the Villa , I once again see the lovely rolling hills Tuscany. I am going to miss Cortona . Something tells me that I'll be back here. The train station at Camucia is cold and quiet . The train arrives on time and I am on my way to Firenze.
Firenze train station is typically big town Italian . Bustling, noisy, packed and dirty. The first person I meet asks me where I was from and then asks for a signature for a petition for charity . I sign and after that she hits me with a request for a donation. Oldest trick in the book but hey its for charity and I'm on holiday now that the shoot is over.
I take a cab to Holiday Inn and upon arrival regretted picking the hotel. Too far from the city Centre, it is more for those who drive . Plenty of space to park but going into the city would be a hassle.
As I wanted to just get the shopping in Regello done quickly , I took another cab back into the city to the bus station, only to find that there were no bus services to Regello !!! Aaaah. Walked next door to the train station and took a bus to ..... where we then had to take a cab to the mall. The mall better be worth it , I told myself because Clarissa is rolling her eyes and giving me the looks of " I cant believe we are spending time at a mall on my first visit to Florence - the centre of Renaissance art and culture" . I am telling her telepathically - yeah , yeah I know so lets get this done as efficiently as we can okay...
We take the train to Rignano and then I started looking for a cab to the outlet mall. I walked under the passageway over to the other side of the track. No one was around. There is no bus or taxi anywhere.
Finally, I called the nr on the notice and within 5 minutes the shuttle was there. The outlet mall was not typical European but rather American but with a prettier landscape. Gucci, feraggamo, Armani, fend , everyone was there except prada. That would be another 5 min by cab but I did not waste time. I got everything I wanted and was out of there in an hour. How was that for efficient....
With all the bags , I had to take a cab back to the hotel, leave the bags and this time we took a bus out to town. ...
