Never knew KK to be such a porkie town until we found this website called the top 43 places to eat in KK by Ah Bing. So before we planned out trip to KK National Park accordingly. Firstly, a stop to buy roasted pork and then lunch at Tuaran for their famous Mee Tuaran. The fried Mee Tuaran with their famous pork roll was delicious.
It was raining all the way to Kinabalu Lodge Park and windy. Not very good weather for a visit to Kinabalu Park. We booked Nepthenes Lodge which is really quite nice with two rooms and a fireplace. The kitchen was really sparse though
It stopped raining the next morning and so we could go on a little hike since we werent climbing Mt Kinablu. The hotel arranged for a guide and I chose the easiest trail which took slightly more than an hour. and because it rained , it was quite muddy but nevertheless still a great way to see the flora and fauna.
We then took a drive to Ranau and pigged out again . We were told about a fish spa and we were piqued because unlike the ones at the mall , this was natural from a river !. We were told it was near Sabah Tea Plantation and so with some help of the locals and signs , we found it. It was totally a different experience because the fish here were huge, not the tiny guppylike ones at the mall. Ray and my husband got in first, then me. It was kinda nice and tingling until the fish starting biting me. And it was not the big ones but the slightly smaller, piranha like fish. After practically, dragging Sze , screaming into the waters to try it , I decided too that it was enough for me.
We then went next door to Sabah Tea Plantation which had a great view of Mt Kinabalu amids its rows and rows of tea bushes. There could much more done though, like a nice tea house where we could enjoy tea and scones perhaps.
The day ended with a nice hot steam boat in the cool mountain air of Kundasang. We were stuffed but ready go home the next day but hmm must stop to buy those wonderful porkballs from that shop in Gaya Street in KK... Yummy
