The next morning, we were up and about. The location of the Best Western Sapporo was great, less than 5 minutes walk and when we got to the station, we saw the Lavender Express. Talk about themed ride - the whole train was in purple , with seats and lavender decor.. The attendants wore purple so that you will never miss out on the lavender experience.

I have only one complain - an overcast sky gave me heartache. My fields of lavender will not have the bright sunshine. Furano was two hours ride and going into Furano land - the sun peeped. We left our luggage at the left baggage at the train station, had a quick ramen and bought our afternoon twinkle ride for Biei. and then we were off to Farm Tomita. It was a 5 -10 minutes walk from train platform and as we approach, we see hillsides of purple , some light and some dark. Any little patches of purple, we took pictures , then finally we walked to the back of the melon fruit stalls and there we see a hillside full of lavender. That's how they stretch lavender seasons , by planting different patches at different so that you are guaranteed sights of lavender for nearly 6 weeks. I always wondered about that because in Holland , the tulips are there for only 10 days...

It was pictures galore... Near, far, side ways, horizontal, without me , with me , no bee , with bees. I am going mad then we walked towards the farm where you can see rows and rows of different colored flowers.

We had lavender ice-cream and the sweet melon which cost us US12 per slice. My only complaint - the overcast sky but then again , it didnt rain which was what the weather forecast said...

We then took the train to Biei for the twinkle bus ride for 500 yen. since we couldnt afford the taxi ride , we took this instead but it was the fastest sightseeing bus ever. Perhaps the bus driver was just bored having to drive the same route everyday and just pretended to be an F1 driver but everything was a zoooooom.

From the Mild Seven Trees, Parent and Child Tree thorugh the Patchwork Road... At the risk of falling, I put the camera on continous mode , stood and just snapped...

That night we checked into Pension Hoshini Negaiwo , was given a lovely Forrest Gump room , had the most sumptous Monggolian bbq dinner cooked by the owner and ended with a lovely jacuzzi bath.
