What I did
We decided to skip the breakfast at the hotel, to make sure that we could get to the airport on time for our maiden Peach flight. We got to the airport without much trouble. Peach airlines checkout counter was not opened yet so we had our breakfast first. The thing about Japan is that food and drinks in the airport are at NORMAL price . We ordered our breakfast with this vending machine and immediately the cook whips a hot breakfast .Rice and meat with a raw egg which you mixed altogether.
Check in at Peach Aviation was quick and fuss free and then you drop your luggage at this room that looks like a storage room. Unlike Air asia, there have shuttle bus to take you to plane. Just after take off we saw a lady take her food out. Hmm, you wouldnt get that to do that on air asia. Peach took off on time and landed on time . Nice and smooth flight. I would take it again.
The train to sapporo took about 45 min and the weather was overcast ... Perhaps Otaru would have better weather. Best Western was really convenient i.e 5 minutes walk right across the station and though it was too early to get our rooms , we check in our luggage and we were off to Otaru. But decided to check out the trains to Furano for the next morning.
A sweet attendant approached us and I asked us about Furano and she told me about the JR customer service which could help us foreigners. We went there and it turned out to be her. In her sweetest smile and gentlest voice she explained all the different options that we can mix and match. So we bought the special furano express round trip which gave us unlimited rides around the area plus a one round trip from sapporo . All my apprehension about going and doing this on my own was unfounded and to be assisted by a sweet young thing. I am inspired to be as sweet when I return to Malaysia but hey the sacchariness lasted only one minute. the face was aching..
