A chanced googled search on hikes led me to the Mt Blanc Circuit . The blogs and reviews were so good and I was tempted to go. I have been eyeing this surprise trip to Paris since I came back in July. So why not add Chamonix to it. A flight to Geneva and then drive, shuttle or train to Chamonix . When the autumn flights to Europe came out, I surprised my husband with this trip to Chamonix and Paris for our 20th Wedding Anniversary.

Wasnt sure how to get to Chamonix from Geneva. The train ride sounds great but the shuttle was way cheaper. finally after consulting tripadvisor's forum - decided to drive and that was great advice. Booking via car rental was a mistake because I ended up paying much more because of the " insurance fees " which was not included. Also, after the much debate about the french side and the swiss side , I just opted for the swiss side which was more expensive I was told but less complicated because I could use the highways as the toll was paid for.

Decided to drive the long route around Lake Geneva via Martigny as I was told it was very scenic. And it was. The drive from Geneva was one of the most scenic. From the elevated highway, you can see the  snow capped Alps emerging against the blue of Lake Geneva.

We exited from the highway into Montreaux and took pictures of the lakeside. Chung saw H&M and came out with two shopping bags. Not bad for someone who just landed in Switzerland just 3 hours before.

More breathtaking scenery as we drove up the Alps and left Switzerland into France. We stopped by a small R&R place which was actually closing up for the autumn break already. I knew that coming during this time would mean that a lot of places will be closed but I could resist seeing Mont Blanc.Sceneries dont closed down for the season anyway. And we had loads of those. Clear blue skies, snow capped mountains and leaves in their golden splendour.
