Paihia Day 1....
Arrived at about 2 this afternnooon, weather is amazing! and the trip up was reallllly scenic! I cant get over how hot it is up here........its quite busy, like touristy and i think its going to be quite loud at night but we shall see, I'm staying furthest away from all the night clubs so hopefully it will be ok!
After some kinda unpacking I went off to the place were i was taking a helicopter ride from to see when they could fit me in, and they said what about 5?! lol i agreed, as i figured im still getting over jetlag and it would help!! and it definately did, the views were amazing, it was a 20min flight out to an island called Hole in the Rock, for an obvious reason, there are over 100 islands around the Bay of Islands, and flying over them was just amazing, the sea is a beautiful tourqoise colour, and i even managed to spot a pod of dolphins lower down:)
No pics to upload yet but will get thenm up as soon as  i can!
Talk sooon
lots of love to everyone!

Day 2....
Tall ship timmmmmmmeeeee:) had the most amazing day!! you dont really imagine things in pictures to be true, but this definately was! I had a day booked onboard the R Tucker Thompson, which is a tall ship based in the Paihia area, it was amazing, it was wooded all over, like you see in the movies!, with incredible sails and and........lol the sun wasnt out to start with but i didnt care, i was too amazed about the whole experience to be worrying about the weather! We sailed for a while, as the wind picked up and the sea got slighty choppy, and went to an island called the Roberton island which has 2 lagoons which youcan swim in at high tide, we climb to the top of a small hill to look at the views out across the sea before heading back to the boat for a barbacue lunch, it doesnt sound realy does it?!! lol the trip back, was exciting!! had the wind in the sails and was able to help with the ropes etc, the angle of the boat as it was pushed by the wind was amazing, you felt so stable but so unbalanced at the same time! then, being able to take the wheel and navigate for a chunck of the trip just added even more to the experience! it felt so rewarding to be able to do it and....to  top it all of, we climbed to the top of the masts, in among all the strong winds!....i say we, as Harris and Monkey joined me on the trip too, they were far enough down my pocket not to know what was going on but i think they did enjoy it anyway!:)
will try upload a couple of pics...
Lots of love

Day 3...
Will finally get some pictures uploaded this morning! the internet in my hostel works when it wants to so ive gone elsewhere where its cheaper:) not sure what today will bring yet, its really hot this morning even without the sun shining. After rain last night i think its the humidity thats sticking round...Might head over to Russel for a wonder later today, and will fit in a trip to the north tip - Cape Reigna and of course some kayaking too! I will have to spend another night in auckland on my way back down, as the buses take a good chunck of a day to get places, so i might well go back to the hostel i stayed in to start with!
So we spent the day on Russel, me and a girl called Liana who I met here. It was a nice day! We climbed to the top of a lookout point, which was up a relaly steep hill, but the views were worth it! Then, made our way back down and and over to Long Beach for a wonder and a swim:), quite a relaxing day really, nothing to adventurous! So some pics of that coming...

Day 4....
Not quite so interesting! We had plans to go kayaking for a day, ina  really unusual outrigger kayak, but for one reason or another the guy didnt turn up so a bit of a messed up day! however, I booked myself on a days kayaking for tomrow which is a guided tour of 6hours, including a trip to the Haruru Falls not far from here, so that should be good! THe weather is still hot here! I am half looking forward to the maybe cooler weather of south island. I've spent today trying to find a nice place to stay for christmas, I know its a little far in advance but a lot of the places I hve considered are all ready fully booked so I need to get thinking! Also, I'm heading back to Auckland for the night on Thursday, before catching an early bus down to Waitomo where I'll spend a few nights to visit the glowworm caves before heading over to Rotorua. Not thinking so far in advance, I have a trip booked up to the most northely point of New Zealand on Wednesday, to a place called Cape Reinga so am looking forward to that too!

Will keep you posted!
Lots of love

Day 5...
A bit of a hectic day really! To start, my camera decided to break on me last night, and even after leaving it out to dry out overnight it still didnt want to know, it hadnt been submerged in water or anything it just died......so, knowing i had  kayaking trip booked for today I had to somehow find a camera! so i stood around waiting for the camera shop to open to find that mine would have to be sent back to olympus...in the UK.....its only a week old which really annoyed me, but i had no choice but to buy another one!
Anyway, after all the running around, I finnally made it in time for my kayaking trip. It was a 6hour trip down the Whaitangi River to the Haruru Falls where we played in the waterfall before heading back up the river through the Mangroves. Paddling a kayaking with a rudder was totally new to me! I remembered the tips Jan gave me about using your knees etc to push for power instead of you feet, because they operate the rudder....meaning alot of time going round in circles! but anyway it was fine:) we then made our way out to see, round a few islands in Paihia bay before stopping for lunch, with a rather windy landing, but nothing I wasnt used to from paddling in Scotland:) It was a good paddle, and even paddling into headwinds and cross waves i kinda had to slow myself down from drifting ahead from the group!

But overall a good trip:) ....monkey enjoyed it too....

Day 6...

A trip up north to Cape Reinga, with a tour round a Kauri forest on the way, the trees were amazingly big!! and it felt just like being in a tropical rainforest. Then, another 3hours away was the most northely tip of New Zealand,....we walked to the tip, where there is a lighthouse, and you could see right out to sea, even through thick mist! It is where the Tasmanian Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet, and you can tell by a line thats been created of the two different sea colours, it was quite amazing! the waves where crashing on the rocks and it really did feel like the remotest place ever! Then, our driver took us down to the sand dunes where we each took a go at sandboarding down them...it was scary at first, but once you got the hang of it it was good!, then, we carried on along the public highway along the beach, yes, 90mile beach is part of the public highway, its hard to believe but its just a normal road, well beach, but there is no insurance cover if you crash your car along it! they waves were amazing and it was kinda  a wired feeling spending an hour driving along a beach passing various wrecks of cars that had got swept away by waves along the way, it was fascinating! then, leaving the beach on to road, we finished our trip with fish and chips by the sea, before heading back for a well deserved rest:)....

Day 7...
Today, I caught an early back bus to Auckland, where I am now. I stayed the night in the smae hostel I did for my first 2nights here. I'm leaving at about 8 this morning to move on to a little place called Waitomo, known for its Glow Worm Caves, so it all sounds exciting!

lots of love
