We were picked up from our hotel around 8am, drove to pick up another couple at Kalim Bay, then drove further north to pick up another couple from Indigo Pearl Resort. We then drove across the bridge and into the hills, stopping at the Sutin camp area. Given a brief talk about how to sit in the boats, handle the rapids etc, didn't understand all of it as the guy spoke too quickly and ran all the words together. Mike was too busy adjusting the GoPro camera onto his helmet. Put in vans and driven up to the start of the rafting, hopped in with a young Sewdish couple, paddled across a tiny lake then we had to get out again so the boats could be pushed over the dam wall. We sat in the boats, splashing each other, waiting for 11am when they open the gates on the dam and the water flows more rapidly. Great fun as we bounced and bobbed down the river, stopping at different times to catch up with other boats, or when we got jammed on a rock. Our package included 5kms of rafting, after rafting we were driven back to the camp, then driven up to a waterfall (not hugely impressive). Lunch was served back at the camp (not too much vegetarian options). Last option was the flying fox, up some dodgy timber stairs, across a valley, up more dodgy stairs, and back again. Luckily the equipment used was pretty good (unlike the stairs!) otherwise I would have bailed. Back into our minivan again, drove to a small cave area with quite a few monkeys, we bought peanuts to feed them but they seemed to prefer bananas. Drove back to Patong, headed out to dinner (another restaurant along the beach), I picked crab which was nice but the sauce was average. Lots of tiny insects made it an unpleasant dining experience.
