I woke around 6:30 and crawled in bed with Mike to try and stay warm. Gave AJ a fright I think when he woke up and heard us chatting - his comment was "this is the boys room". The weather was sunny so a total change from the previous day.
After breakfast Mike, English Mike, Sharon and Abdul left to hike further up the mountain to a shrine. AJ, Aussie Mike, Sandra and I stayed indoors for a while then decided to go for a walk. We headed down and crossed the creek (quite an experience for Sandra who had given her hiking boots to Sharon for her hike).
Sandra and I let the boys continue on and we decided to turn back and attempt to cross by ourselves. We managed OK (with me going over each section first then going back to help Sandra across) until we got to the main crossing and a herd of goats and 3 men were crossing towards us
Got back to the gite and relaxed for a while before the others arrived back. Had a great lunch out on the terrace - soup, pasta, lentils, salad. Wrapped my sleeping bag around me to stay warm.
Packed up and headed down the mountain again, AJ and Sandra on mules, the rest of us hiking. Back in the bus again after collecting our bags from the cafe for the drive back through the winding section (we passed a massive rock that had fallen across the road - bigger than our bus).
We passed the outskirts of Marrakech and headed east towards the ocean. We stopped for photos of goats in an argan tree, the men there wanted money for us to take pictures but we all got straight back on the bus and shut the door on them.
Drove then to Essaouira, our stop for the next 2 nights. We pulled up outside the medina walls, said our goodbyes to Abdul the driver, then lugged our bags a short distance to our hotel (Riad ?).
After unpacking, Mike and I headed out to explore the markets. We wandered around for ages, just looking (bought some dates and dried apricots), then stopped at a local cafe for pizza and fresh orange juice. So many seagulls everywhere - boy they made a noise. Back to our hotel for an early night.
