We woke at 5am to shower, pack and check out. Waited in the lobby for a while then got the 6am free shuttle bus to the airport. Again we went fairly quickly through check in ans customs, then had to find our gate 143. The airport is huge, it must have taken about 20 mins to walk to the gate. When we boarded, we walked down and got on a bus which drove us out to the plane on the tarmac, probably about a 10min drive. The flight was good, we had a decent breakfast and watched movies to fill in the time.

We arrived in Cairo right on time about 11am. Got our visas from the bank right near the passport control, then through to collect our luggage and met by Joseph, Lina, Gerard & Alphonse. We got a bus to the carpark & climbed in their cars - Mike with Gerard and Alphonse, Adrian and I with Joe, and the girls with Lina. The kids got their first experience of driving in chaotic Cairo traffic, noisy, busy, crazy, no one sticking to their lanes and constantly honking their horns Bored Travellers

. Thankfully it's only a short ride to their house. Mohammed was waiting for us and seemed excited to see us again. He carried 2 of our huge bags inside while the rest of us carried the others. We put all of our stuff into the spare bedroom and sat outside for a while. Gave everyone their presents. Helene came home from work and Mohammed prepared us food - foul, eggs and bread. The girls were tired so they went to lie down and I thought a nap would be good too. The 3 of us fitted comfortably in the huge bed. I think I only slept for about 30 mins but it was good to have a little nap.

Mike and Adrian had gone with Alphonse and Gerard to buy his duty free alcohol. I don't think he really comes to visit us! Gabby also came over to visit and we all had dinner together - rice, molakiya (green stuff), chicken. After dinner Joe wanted to take the kids out to a club to meet some friends but they were way too tired and went to bed around 8:30. I left Mike still chatting and fell asleep myself about 9:30. He ended up going out with Joe for a little while.
