Our last day with the group and we spent the morning at the Egyptian Museum. What an amazing place - so many awesome things to look at. I think the highlight was all the stuff from King Tut's tomb. How could it all have fitted? And how exciting for Howard Carter to actually discover it. I loved wandering around and could have spent the whole day but we were limited on time and had to leave by 12. We got a lift to Helene's place with Wahil the guide (and after driving past City Stars about 5 times, we finally found the place). Mohammed was excited to see us and cooked us up a feast. Mike and I ate like we had been starved for 2 weeks (we hadn't of course!). The kids and Helene arrived home and we chatted to them till it was time to leave for the airport at 1am and board our flight.
Flight to Abu Dhabi was uneventful, arrived and walked straight across to the other gate as our flight to Sydney was being called. The plane to Sydney was not full so I had 2 seats and Mike had 4 and we could stretch out and relax a bit. Watched some movies, ate and the time went quickly enough. Landed in Sydney around 6-6:30am to miserable rain. Whizzed through customs, no problems with the stuff we had brought back, and headed over to domestic terminal. First cappuccino in ages and boy did it taste great! Snoozed while we waited for the plane. So tired that it was really hard trying to keep the eyes open and we were starting to feel that we had been awake for 30 odd hours (well we had) and that combined with all the early starts etc meant we were just exhausted.
Damian and Kelsea were waiting for us and we were so glad to be home. Slept a bit in the afternoon, then a lovely family dinner with all the kids.
