Arrived in Aswan around 9:30am. Went on fellucca ride around Elaphantine Island, sing along with boat boy. Small children in leaky boats rowed up to us and were singing a crazy mix of songs in all sorts of languages. Very cute. Afternoon snooze then walked up to markets for some shopping. Sound and light show at Philae Temple that night - crazy boat ride and lots of chaos trying to get to the dock, boats bumping into each other. Sound and Light show very cheesy but spectacular.

Early morning wakeup call 2:45am for trip to Abu Simbel. Travelled in convoy with hundreds of other buses which just meant we started together but then it was a mad rush to see who could drive the fastest and overtake the most buses. Arrived just after 7am, given briefing by guide then wandered around just gazing at the amazing statues and taking lots of pics. The other amazing thing about this temple is that is was moved slightly inland to stop it being flooded. To see the pics and read how they did this was fantastic and you could never tell when you look at the temples that they have been cut into pieces and moved.

Boat trip then walking tour around the Nubian village on Elaphantine Island in the afternoon. Quiet night and early to bed.
