Train arrived in Luxor around 7:30am. we were transferred straight into a minibus then drove to the Melodie, our home for the next 7 nights. A welcome drink and intro to some of the staff, then we were back out and into horsedrawn carriages for a trip to Karnak Temple. Awesome structure and lots of the original colours still showing through. Back onto the boat to finally check iinto our room and shower and change. Lunch on board as we sailed towards Esna. As soon as we dropped anchor, sellers in small boats rowed towards us furiously. Shirts, towels, gallibayas etc that they were selling were wrapped in plastic bags and tossed on board. If anyone wanted anything, the haggling began otherwise they were tossed straight back. We bought a few things and money was again tossed back in a plastic bag. Through the lock around midnight then sailed on to dock at Edfu.
Spent the morning on deck as we sailed towards Kom Ombo, then arrived in the afternoon with plenty of time to walk around and get some shopping done at the market which magically appeared as soon as the boat moored.
Gallibaya night on the boat so we all dressed up, watched a display by Nubian dancers and then danced the night away - led by Bob who has more moves than Michael Jackson.
