Ship boarding went fast and smooth on Saturday. Our cabin is small but has a good size window. Right now we are somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The sea has been smooth to look at, but the ship still has a gentile and constant rock. I swear it puts me to sleep. There are so many shipboard activities that you can never get bored. Patty and I try to do as many as we can fit in. Last night we watched the Karaoke contest, but did not participate. The singers were amazingly good. We have both been exercising. Patty walks around the deck and I run on the upper deck. Yesterday, I took part in a basketball free throw shooting contest. Sadly I did not win. Today at 2:30 I am going to take part in the volleyball tournament. I am expecting better results. The ship has lots of old people on board, however the activities director Julie tells me that this is a really young crowd. That is a little scary. There are a good number of teenagers and children aboard. Yesterday Patty went to a Culinary Arts Seminar. I did not, since I don't need to learn that sort of stuff. We both attended an Art 101 lecture and today we are going to another Art event. It will be a game show format. We have seen two movies so far, Swing Vote and Baby Mama. Of course, we already saw them in the theater in Gainesville, but it is fun to sit and kibbutz real loud so that the others will know what is going to happen. I don't want them to miss any of the good parts. So far the two stage shows have been a banjo player with a bunch a string music (I slept through that one) and a funny ventriloquist. He was very good. We arrive in Hilo on Thursday, so there is still plenty of bingo, movies, trivia, art, cooking, etc, etc, etc, to go.

I did not expect you to win the Karaoke contest. After your throat surgery your voice sounds like you are gargling with gravel when you sing.
How did you lose a free throw contest on a cruise ship full of senior citizens? Was this an 8 ft goal or was this a floating basket in the middle of the ship's pool?
Art 101 Classes? The Harn Museum of Art had better watch out when you return to Gainesville. This new found knowledge my lead to a career as a docent.

Hilo gets the most rain of any city in the US. It rains like every 3 out of 4 days. Don't worry you will not be mistaken for an Ironman as Kona is on the oppostie side of the island. Take the helicopter trip if you can not get to the national park (to the South). Do not take any rocks from the island or it will mean bad luck. Muhalo.
Men don't cook?
What do you mean you don't need to learn any of that stuff?!
Happy Sailing!
I hope you and Patty are having a great cruise. It certainly sounds and looks fabulous. Good luck in the Karaoke contests!
