Padang-Padang Day 131 (28th Sept)

Today I took the bus from Lovina down to Kuta, only taking a couple of hours. The scenary was quite nice on the way down and my memory of that otherwise forgettable trip will be seeing two monkeys by the side of the road getting it on, lol. From Kuta I negotiated a taxi down from 150,000Rp to 75,000Rp and got dropped off in Padang Padang. After searching for 25 minutes and finding everywhere to be full I got a room for 75,000Rp and I was staying in a hut on stilts with a small balcony and it being made entirely out of wood, it was pretty basic but a nice change, although I had an outside toilet/shower cubicle, which left something to be desired. I then went to Padang Padang beach, it was really nice here, the water transparent and the beach surrounded by rocks which I clambered over and explored, this would have been a great place to chill out with some mates. In the evening I walked to Ula Watu beach and met a couple of english guys from Manchester; Christian and John, who I chatted to for a while then headed to Ula Watu beach for sunset. It took about another 15 minutes to get there. It was really nice and had a great viewing point on a rock overlooking the beach and the big waves everyone was riding. Ula Watu is quite legendary amongst surfers and is world renowned for having some of the best waves in the world. Many surfers were there. I walked down to the beach and explored the caves and lookouts after which I met some Australian men who let me join them and treated me to some free Bintang. They were pretty smashed but one managed to give me a lift back to my shack for me to get some downtime.
