After a couple of killer games of Scrabble, Barb drove me to the ferry
at Horseshoe Bay and timing was perfect. Got my ticket and got
on. Beautiful 1.5 hour trip over. Wanted to walk to my ' Motel' but
since the ferry terminal faced a parking lot and beyond heavy
traffic with no sidewalks, I took a taxi, something I have tried to
avoid. Anyway had an altercation with the 'Royal Motel'
manager... didn't have my reservation... turned out he is computer
illiterate and won't admit it.. didn't even open email to see
what reservations he had from Hostelbookers, expected me to have
a printout. sent me next door to the Castaway Motel as he said that is
where his 'boss' was - tu rned out they just help each other out and
his 'boss' reads emails! Castaway guy phoned Royal
guy and explained how to get into his email to read my
reservation, and there it was. I was not going back there so just
trnasferred my res to the Castaway. Had a little deck on the back
overlooking a yard but iit was not the best of places - Motels
advertising on Hostelbookers should have been my first clue... Anyway
had a grand time with the TV and channel changer, such a treat!
Sue driving in from VIctoria tomorrow and picking me up where I'll head
with her to Ladysmith and their farm.
