I got on the bus at 9:45 and it arrived at 4 or so in Laem Ngoa, which is the port for the ferry to Ko Chang. While waiting for the taxi to take us to the ferry, I met a German woman from Cologne, Maria, and so we have been hanging out. I am going on a snorkelling trip tomorrow to 4 islands and am staying in La Villa, the same accomm as Brian and Carolyn, who are now on Ko Samui, stayed hereon Kai Bai . IT is hot hot and I hanker a little after Yellowknife's fall (not winter) weather... Will probably stay another couple of days and then I'll move on to Cambodia.
Made it to Ko Chang after a mini bus from Karon Beach to Phuket and then 'VIP' bus to Bangkok, arriving at 6 am. Had booked a hostel in the Sukhumvit area, new to me, in Bangkok. Took a taxi who had a hard time finding the place but we were successful; ending up walking around asking people on the street. The Hostel was only literally 100 meters from the Sky Train so was really handy. I spent the day going to two movies in air conditioning.... 'The Lives of Others' a German film with Eng and Thai subtitles. It was a wonderful film about the Stasi, German Secret Service and how it interfered with the artistic and political life in Germany. Then I saw Smokin Aces, for a bit of a yin and yang experience. IT was a little like PulP Fiction, really over the top but entertaining. I took the bus from the eastern or Ekamii bus terminal in Bnagkok and it was only a 10 min walk form my hostel, which was a pleasant surprise, considering how big Bangkok is.
