After leaving the cabin we drove five hours north to Glacier. About 5 miles from the entrance was a huge lake and mountains in the background. It was about 6 so we went in search for a campground. We stayed at the Apgar campground(which is the first one) because the ranger station had closed, which is where we would have bought our backcountry passes. We awoke early and bought some passes to hike and stay on a backpacking trail. We started our ascent over the mountains and across the park to where the trailhead was. When we got to the trail we could not believe the view. We hiked through grizzly country, up into our campsite, and set camp at about 5. (there are strict guidelines for food storage and time that you have to be in your tent because of predators) We were a little nervous about the unnecessary amount of grizzly and cougar beware signs but felt confident on what to do if an attack did occur. The next morning we woke early and decided to hike about 3 more miles up to the triple pass without our packs. The view of the glaciers, waterfalls and lakes relaxing and we all took some time alone. JAH hike up a little further and saw some mountain goats and marmots and came down to meet us after about 2 hours. About 4 hours and 8 miles later we were back at the car and really in need of a burger and a beer (usually the only thing you want after a hard hike) so we did just that. After we ate we decided to make the trek back to columbus, drove for about 7 hours and made it at about 12:30. We really had a great time at the park and I would for sure go back.
