Journeying a further hundred kilometres, we arrived at a small oasis of a camping ground early enough to take advantage of the superb setting of Ellendale Pool. The area lies on the Murchison River with dramatic gorges towering at one side and part way along, a current-less pool is inviting and refreshing - perfect for a swim on a scorching day! Bliss!
Next, we ventured to Kalbarri National Park where we stopped off at several viewpoints to see the unusual coastline. Driving inland, we explored the river gorges and were taken aback by how naturally beautiful the scene before us was!
One annoyance we did come across as we drove further north, were the sheer amount of flies. Buzzing in and out of our nose and ears constantly until sun-down! I even considered buying a fashionable fly-net hat!
