A few times throughout our journey, Inishbofin Island has been recommended to us. We took the recommendations seriously as they were coming from well traveled locals who seemed to know their stuff when it comes to unique gems of their country not always highlighted in the travel books.

We made a day trip out of it, taking the first ferry over (almost missing it after making an early morning stop at the nearby fish smokehouse to buy some delicious smoked salmon for dinner) and the last ferry back. As was the case with Inis Oirr, the ferry was pedestrian only and visitor cars are not permitted on the island. We spent the day walking around the West loop of the island. The ferry ride and the views from the island were beautiful. We could've easily missed such a great experience and we’re so glad we didn’t.

Grateful for the recommendation,
Robyn and Leann
