So they have left, leaving just 60 staff members. Camp feels empty and yet there is a sense that it was time for them to leave. This feeling came mainly from the staff...the participants really fought leaving the camp, which I am taking as a compliment.
The last two days have kind of moulded into two...the last night started with the banquet an amazing meal, followed by a talent show and then the participants were sent to one of the programme rooms to stay up all night if they wished or to their cabins if they wanted to sleep.  The RA's were split into two shifts: 12.30am - 3.30 and 3.30 to 6.30. When we were off we were told to sleep in our cabins. I was on the second shift - sitting in the programme room with the participants sending them up to their cabins if they fell asleep.  It turned up to be a fun three hours. The director of camp brought us coffee and cakes and made the shift a lot easier. At 5.30am there was a sunrise service - which I attended, the camp looked amazing. Surprisingly we had around 30 participants (out of 180ish) left.  At six thirty we had the whole camp up and doing a final clean and packing. Then we met to do a final song session and the buses left at 10.45 and the RAs were sent straight to bed to sleep. We were told to be up for lunch at 12.30. Not many us slept as it was around 30 degrees in the cabins already. We given the afternoon off to relax and I choose to leave camp with a group boys and we ended up in a ford dealership to get the drivers car fixed. We were there for about 3 hours, mainly sleeping or being entertained by the pet parrot. It was an interesting car dealership.....
We have had a quiet shabbat evening and most of us will be asleep soon. It is nice to get some quiet. It has been a stressful yet an amazing week and my week to come - in Boston - will no doubt be fantastic too. Have a good weekend!
