After fiding that Vis was more isolated than we realised we caught the ferry back to split then from there to Hvar.
So after a whole day of travel we get to Hvar at 6pm on Friday evening. We headed straight for a booking agency and were directed towards a place owned by a very nice old lady who spoke very little english but had a great sense of humour. Hvar does not have the best beaches but the little islands just of the coast were rumoured to be great. We jumped on a charter boat to the furtherest beach in the Pakleni islands. Palmizana was quite a big island so we thought we go off the beaten track and find a nice secluded spot of our own. After a few km we check the map and figure out it is actually a bit of a treck though the overgrown and rocky paths but we (Greg) decided we would tough it out. After about 50 mins in thongs we get to the beach we were heading for but after all that it was not as nice as the one that the boat dropped us off at. Boo! Still had a lovely day until it came to walking back. Boo Hoo!
So the next day we decide to play it safe and got a boat to frop us at Jerolim, the nearest smallest island which was a great move. Cheaper ride, less walking, prettier beaches. You hear about the nude sunbathing in Croatia and this was our first real experience. There were whole lines of topless girls and some total nudes right next to us - thier money shot right in our faces. Bur aside from that it was a great day. Finnished Harry Potter (see - it doesnt take long if you have whole days at your disposal) and had another great pizza for tea. If you are what you eat then I should be turning into a pizza any day now! Had a good look around the town the next day but things really heated up when we went to visit Carpe Diem - the coolest bar in town. We managed to get a seat in the arch of the balcony where there were coushins a plenty and a great drink list. We ended up getting a carraff of Mojhito which we drank with straws that must have been 1m long so you didn't have to move from your comfy position to drink. You dont even have the choice - they dont give you glasses! Someone has really thought things through! Spent the night there and ran into Trudy from Cesky Krumlov there who was on a cruise. Small world. Great night.
