Leah / Greg
I was the first one up - the first time for the whole festival. Considering the mud we got things pretty clean but we had to sacrifice a few socks along the way. As we walked away we all had this nagging feeling that we had left something behind. Maybe it was beacuse we did leave rubbish just sitting at our camp due to no bins and new camping equipment behind due to no space and no more use. A few months on I am not missing anything so I could not have been important. Headed for the nearby bus pick up point and luckliy got on a bus within 5 mins which must have been great timing and 100,000 people were all trying to get out of the mud.
Walked past at least 300 pairs of gumboots lined up along fences from the path to the bus stop all the way along the road to the train station at Roskilde and even a few at the copenhagen train station. Arrived back at the dan hostel by 1:45 for a 2pm check in. You would not believe it but we were back in the same room as the iclandic guys who were great to catch up with and see what they thought of the whole show. After a LONG shower and a quick nap we headed to Tivoli which seems to be a bit of a must do in copenhagen. Its a bit like the Renmark show but interesting and things to do. For 200dkk we went on the oldest rollercoaster in the world (made mostly of wood) and then the tallest carousel in the world (I think the Yorke Peninsular better watch out - someone is trying to take over in the 'big calls' department!) but both were really good.
Went on the Hans Christian Anderson ride, woo hoo! (amazingly one of the only rides you didnt have to queue up for) and the other two roller coasters, and then dodgem cars where there were plenty of good t-bones! We also did a few sideshows including the shot guns. The first time we did this after finishing toby said how do you tell how many you shot? Greg: "it says just next to the tree that the bears climb up" Leah: "I got none!" (Susie Sharley would be proud - no bears shot on my watch!) She then couldnt stop laughing for over 5 minutes. Later on in the night we went back to the guns and after showing leah how to use the sights and not just piont and shoot, she got 17 out of twenty which was more than me.
but i won the horse race! The next day we went for one last walk around. We went down the mall which Greg informaed us was the longest mall in the world. A lady pushing a double stroller just infront of us turned around and said "I have lived here my whole life and never knew that. No wonder my legs are so sore!" Found another boat shop but they came without motors which would have been pretty useless on an hourly rate to check out the town so we left it and legged it to the opera house, along the way we climbed to the top of a church spiral tower and once again past all those amazing boats in the canals, it really is a beautiful city.. After many wrong turns we got to the opera house but it was closed. Boo! Got an ice cream and a hot dog on the way to the train station which pretty much covered most of the food groups we had the pleasure of sampling in scanidnavia. On the plane to London.
