Greg, Leah
Arrived in vienna at about 5 and saw Shaun who said he was going to the opera tonight and did we want to come. it started at 7 but as we were after standing tickets and apparently it was a famous one - Guiseppe Verdi´s Otello (the story of othello by shakes) we would need to get there by about 5:45 to get tickets and a spot. Managed to get standing tickets for a whopping 2 euros. We were right at the top but could see about 90% of the stage and everyone had their own little subtitles box in front of them (just in case you didnt speak italian). Really good, but standing would have been much more tiring had we not been on a bus all day.
Next day went on a bike riding wine tour of the Wachau Valley, which was apparently once very famous and profitable until they got caught putting anti freeze in the wine (as in the simpsons). Neither of us found a wine we particularly liked and they were very different to australian wines, especially the reds, but had a great day out in the country and returned to the hostel to find the cat empire had cancelled their show, so kicked on in the hostel bar instead and both had a pretty big night. Spent the next day wondering through Vienna More thumbnails ...
